  • English Name: Amoxicillin Soluble Powder

Active Ingredient

Amoxicillin

Properties

This product is a white or almost white powder.

Pharmacological Actions
  • Pharmacodynamics: Amoxicillin is a β-lactam antibiotic with broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. Its spectrum and efficacy are similar to ampicillin but slightly less potent than penicillin against most Gram-positive bacteria. It is sensitive to penicillinase, rendering it ineffective against penicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. It shows strong activity against Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coliProteusSalmonellaHaemophilusBrucella, and Pasteurella, though these bacteria may develop resistance. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is inherently resistant. Due to better absorption in monogastric animals and higher blood concentrations, it is more effective for systemic infections. Indicated for respiratory, urinary, skin, and soft tissue infections caused by susceptible bacteria.

  • Pharmacokinetics: Amoxicillin is highly stable in gastric acid, with 74%–92% absorption in monogastric animals after oral administration. Gastrointestinal contents may delay absorption but do not reduce its extent, allowing mixed administration. Serum concentrations of amoxicillin are 1.5–3 times higher than ampicillin at equivalent doses.

Drug Interactions
  1. Synergistic effects when combined with aminoglycosides (enhances intracellular uptake of the latter).

  2. Bacteriostatic antibiotics (e.g., macrolides, tetracyclines, phenicols) may interfere with its bactericidal action—avoid concurrent use.

Indications

β-lactam antibiotic for treating Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial infections in chickens caused by amoxicillin-sensitive pathogens.
